Is an intro really useful?

I think they're pretty good, if you use music that isn't a popular song people might even link your intro song to your channel as well which is just even better for branding :)

I personally think it just makes a nice fade in for the video, the second they click on the video they aren't getting you or your video straight in their face and they have time to adjust audio and such. It also gives people time to decide if what size they want to play the video and what quality. It also just makes the video look a little more professional.

There are some intro's that I LOVE......and some that I HATE O_O. I don't like when intros go on too long. There are some intros I will watch every single time...and some intros I immediately skip! I guess it really depends on the intro hehe. Personally....if I were going to do intros for my videos, I'd make them as short as possible.

It seems to be, for most people, a good thing to have an intro in your videos.
But as a viewer I've never seen them as something that ads anything to a video (I actually find them mostly annoying as they tend to be edited with really loud electro/dubstep music) : /
What do you guys think?
Intros draw in the viewer... My intro yes it may have a song overplayed but hey its got a bunny with a flaming eye for gods sake

If you have a brand name or saying that is important to you or you want to be known, most people throw that in an intro. Personally, I like to cut to the chase, only because when your not known well, you try to grab the viewers attention as quick as possible. Longer down the road, I may look into it, but it all depends on yourself. Every video you make is under your discretion.

i think an intro can be used as an effective and useful tool for promotion, and introduction. i don't do the "flashy intro of logo, and dubstep" kind of intro, instead i made up a thing i say in the start of every video, as well as introduce what i'm doing that episode like "welcome/welcome back everybody! i'm Highway, The Great Dane, The Best Dane and today we're continueing/playing ......" that's how i normally do it, with a little music going in the background, that get's people pumped up. that's how i like to do it!

i do also have some other stuff going on, on the actual video, but that's hard to explain. it's basically just the regular other series, subscribe and what episode it is they're watching.
i find my intro to be a bit different.

if you want to watch it, i'm actually using it as a channel trailer as well! so just head over there and watch :) don't worry! it won't bite that much!

I think intros add a bit of professionalism. As stated above they are also good for branding. Yes, they must be short!

Well, I don't know. I think it adds a nice personal & professional touch to the videos and it creates a brand. I mean, I prefer watching videos that have intros but then again, intros don't make your videos. Your content does.

the only intros i like are the ones made specifically for each video, which is why I do those. I make a new one each video, try checking it out.
On your newest video, why is your name red (in the comment section)? I've never seen that before!

Sorry for off-topic.
