Is an intro and outro worth it?

I do all my own graphics!
If I make an intro and outro will it make any difference to my overall channel? I see lots of YTers who have i/o who do well, and others don't have i/o do well.

As you may already know, there are some crap looking i/o on YT. in my opinion, these make the overall channel look bad and unprofessional. Some things I've noticed that annoy ME in particular are: loud intros, long intros, ugly intros, paintshop (poor) quality intros, boring intros, and some others that I won't bother mentioning.

As long as I stick to these basic no-no lists, should I go for an intro and outro? I am trying to keep things looking professional and legit. So far, I've done everything by myself (avatar, etc.). Aside from the fact that you definitely need good content videos, is it a good idea to get this at my point in YT--I literally just started. What's your take on intros and outros?

I think intro's and outros are totally worth it, simply for the fact it slightly grabs your attention to the video more. The way I see it is that, if it's an amazing intro it most likely will be a great video.

If you've followed some youtuber who used to be small and then got big, you'll see the timeline of the quality of their i / o improve,

Outros can be good, if you have a link to another video at the end or links to your social network pages.

I think intros are good but how the intro plays out depends on the type of channel. Ex: a quick one second screen of your logo whooshing in with a sound effect from a game would be good for a gaming channel.

It can normally take only a few seconds for people to be interested in a video, so if the intro is like 15 seconds they may get bored and click off.

I've been working on this and was intending on using it for my next video! :) Actually, that's what tempted me to ask this question, haha.

After reading all the posts here, I feel confident to go ahead and use an intro AND outro now, thank you.

Ah, so true. I didnt' really stop to think about this. I make my things on my own so this is good to know.

Yeah I know, any longer than 5 seconds is too much, imo
Oh that's for sure. I wanted to watch a tutorial for minecraft and the guys video had about 30 seconds worth of opening-intro O_o. I watched it only for the dire necessity of getting what was on that tutorial but, never ever did I go back to that channel...

I agree with Josh too. People who introduce their sponsors before their video, or even during their video get a click out from me... Do all that stuff at the end, and let people decide to watch it on their own...

Slightly off-topic but people who monetize their videos when they're just starting... I don't get it. Unless they're blowing up with views/subs they aren't going to get much and it detours some people from watching videos.
