Get an inside look at Makers Studios. The video on this article is pretty interesting.

I was really impressed with the way they can organize their sets. if you are a big youtuber and are in the area and a member of maker studios when you can have access to the same stuff the Hollywood movies have.

true, but to me it is not having access to the stuff hollywood movies have, its about the people using it. I can confidently say Steven Spielberg could make a great movie with a Cannon 7D and a 50 dollar tripod from walmart as long as he still has his production crew.

If studios allow you to use their facilities, it is a good reason for
them to get their cut from your revenue. If you can do it on
your own, you have leverage to negotiate better terms.

Maker was getting a sizeable share of RWJ's income because
they were supplying him with writers, editors, and other benefits.

Maker has a restriction on who is allowed to use their studio facilities. It's reserved for their larger channels. You pay a set fee for rentals of any stage/equipment. It's much lower than the average sound stage rental in town, but obviously not so low that people paid out of pocket instead of folding it into their contracts. With YouTube Space LA only a few miles away, it's opened up the Maker facilities a bit more as Space LA is much larger, more modern and free if you have 100k subscribers.
