Insanely Fast Upload Speed

JUST KIDDING. I thought it was just one time but whenever I upload videos to YouTube now it takes a ridiculously long time. For example, a video that is 3:40 seconds long says it will take 145 minutes to upload...

I closed out most programs and I did a speed test, get this:

Ping: 1550 ms (ARE YOU KIDDING)
Download: 2.95 mbps
Upload: 0.30 mbps (Facepalm)

This is awful lmao, if anyone has some tips let me know haha. It might just be a phase that my internet/computer is going through but cmon now that is slower than a turtle

Well, first off, make sure you're plugged in, rather than running on wifi. After that, I'd check what upload speed you've purchased from your ISP, and contact them if there's an egregious difference.

Are you uploading a video with some weird render settings or file format? Are you uploading say an AVI file? That will make the upload very slow. Also, don't speed test while uploading. It distorts your numbers slightly.

So, this started to happen today? Did you download anything or change any settings that could have caused this? Are you trying to upload a very large file? If none of that is true than call those (internet service) motherfuckers up!

BTW a tip if you're not doing this already, convert your video to an MP4 before uploading it saves A LOT of time.
I used to upload something like a 25 minute let's play video in .mov and it would take about 3 hours, when I upload a 25 minute video thats a .mp4 it takes 45 minutes - an hour depending on if youtube isn't being an a**.

It started to happen about 2 weeks ago, basically on the last 3 videos I have uploaded.

Very true, I am on wifi because I upload from my laptop.

I'm not sure, it actually might be an avi because I had to switch it to that for one render and I mustve forgoteen to put it back. Thanks for the reminder![DOUBLEPOST=1373684770,1373684624][/DOUBLEPOST]

so render it as an mp4 yea? Not as a wmv and then convert it?

Rendering as either an MP4 or MOV will give you the best compression and quality for YouTube. AVI files are overkill. Render as either of those two and you should be fine.

Basically.
When you upload a youtube video, youtube converts it to an mp4. So if you already have it as an mp4 it saves the converting time.

Would you both recommend stopping this upload that still has 104 minutes to go, re-rendering the video, and uploading it? For Vegas there is a XDCAM EX (*.MP4) and a Sony AVC (*.mp4, *.m2v, *.m2p, *.mpa) and a QuickTime 7 (*.mov)

Which one should I chooooooose (Rebecca Black voice)
