If Dislikes bother you...

I know my magikarp video got like 7 dislikes immediately, when it was posted.
and now its got 56k likes to 2k dislikes, so I can see the majority did enjoy the video.

theres always that small bunch of people that get off on the thought of being the first dislike, almost as much as the first commenters lol

Dislike button on youtube now is nothing but an open gate for haters, stalkers and other mostly retarded people to get on nerves of the creator or demotivate them. I'd like it to be more subtle, like... you have to watch entire video before having an option to dislike or 70% of it or something whatever controls this madness, because there are bunch that dislikes everything in the row, just because they feel like so. I get about 1 dislike per 10 likes, it's normal i assume, but you never know how it would be under normal conditions.

It's difficult not to take dislikes personally, and I have read a few threads on YTTalk where some members are really bothered by them.

What are dislikes and what do they do? Absolutely nothing. They are left by a bunch of insecure folk that aim to make the YouTuber they leave them on insecure. I don't give a crap about them. I got likes. It's only when the dislikes start to outpace the likes that you have to pay attention. Then a video (or a topic) is genuinely disliked by the masses and you might want to avoid making the same type of video in the future.

I'm definitely sensitive to dislikes, but that's more due to the fact that I don't have an established subscriber base so it feels more intimate to me. The worst things are nasty comments!

Maybe you can try figuring it out with your retention curves etc. At which point in the video do most people leave, maybe that is why they don't like the video... With some detective work in your Analytics you might get an idea of why they don't like your video...
Some dislikes really don't have a reason at all... Just someone having a bad day.

Yea I know I can figure it out but I shouldn't have to. It wouldnt be difficult for them to add some kind of system where the user can add an option comment to their dislike to make things a little easier for the creator. And if some don't like it maybe it could be toggled on and off by the video uploader for each video to either simple thumbs up or down or a star system and option comments.

I know I can't actually put this idea forward to youtube but I think it would help out a lot of people

Completely agree!![DOUBLEPOST=1432046452,1432046407][/DOUBLEPOST]I don't get bothered by dislikes anymore, most of times are just trolls and haters that trying to put you down!

Definitely keep an eye out for any comments with even an hint at constructive criticism, but for the most part... dislikes are going to happen.
