I just got "dislike" attacked! Anyone else experienced this?

So last night I left a comment on someone's video - turns out they are pretty hated in the community, and when I woke up this morning I had a tirade of abusive comments on my last video. They told me never to comment on any of those videos again, and if I did the "next attack" would be worse. I then realised I had acquired 27 dislikes overnight on my last video. I guess it could have been worse, and in the grand scheme of things it won't make much difference, but I'm worried about the perception having that many dislikes on my video will mean.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

The Internet can be a bit of a sad place, can't it...

I haven't had anything like this happen, and hopefully I don't, but after a quick glance at your page, I think you'll recover just fine.

I'd say the best thing might be just to not respond, keep doing what you're doing. If you say the wrong thing, it could get much worse.

Do you know why this other guy is being singled out?
 
Thanks Freddy, appreciate the comment. I agree that ignoring the trolls is the best thing to do, and keep just doing my own thing.

I've done some digging and it turns out the guy being singled out has a pretty sketchy past, and has other channels I wasn't aware of. These are all military themed, and he's being accused of stolen valour from people in the military!! I know this can get people pretty upset, but I'm surprised they're taking it out on people leaving comments. I guess they're trying to destroy his channel by scaring off his viewers...
 
No, I haven't experienced that before but I didn't think it happened much to smaller channels, I'm not sure. Although I have herd it happen to bigger youtubers before and it is very sad.
 
The thing that gets me the most is that I got 27 dislikes, but didn't get 27 extra views!! ;) Do you think they maybe used some kind of script to do it? If so I wonder if YouTube could remove them.

Yes it's sad - however I suppose if you're prepared to put yourself out there, there is always going to be some negativity. I just wasn't expecting it this way...
 
True, you can't make everybody happy and I always told myself "If you have haters your doing something right." Just don't get too many haters bro, best of luck on the channel.
 
Thanks GoldSnoopy - much appreciated. Yes definitely want more likers than haters! In fact I'm going to try and get all my Facebook buddies to try and like the video for me so I at least have the same number of likes and dislikes on the video!
 
I've never had that happen to me before (thank god) but it sounds repulsive. Some people are just plain bad people. I say don't listen to them; if you like the person you commented on, keep doing what you're doing. :)

Thanks - I've seen some of his videos before, and although he's a bit of an odd character I thought they interesting. Reading up on him it all sounds pretty damning so I think I'll just avoid his channel, as I'm clearly guilty by association!
