I can't do custom thumbnails?

So apparently, I can't do a custom thumbnail until my channel is larger? How big does it have to be?

If you go on your channel settings page, where it shows all the fancy things you can or cannot do, it should show you what the requirements are for each one.

I think you need to verify your channel with your phone number to get access to custom thumbnails and longer than 15 minute videos.

Just verify your channel. This function doesn't depend on the size of the channel. I did it immediately aftet starting. Good luck!
