I am awkward on camera!

Along with all of the above advice, what helps me is to pretend that the camera is my best friend, or that on the other side of that screen will be someone. Acting like you're talking to a human rather than a camera really helps.

I moved this to the Strategy / Technique advice forum! ^_^

I feel awkward on camera, too... And I watch my footage back thinking I look so nerdy and awkward lol! But I think it's partly just an internal thing. Other people aren't commenting on my awkwardness, so maybe it's not as noticeable as I think it is -- or, even if it is noticeable, viewers aren't getting annoyed by it. I've noticed that the camera gets less scary with each video I make, so I think talking to a video camera is something we can get used to with time and practice. :)
Oops sorry! Thank you so much for your input! I hope it gets easier! I will definitely take your word for it and hope for the best!

As a vlogger, I started out hella awkward, it's normal. As you generally make more videos, you'll tend to be less and less awkward. Just keep going with it and filming, the awkwardness will go away.

I think everyone feels awkward at first, but don't worry, you'll get the hang of it soon enough! One thing you could try though is record a bunch of practice videos! Even if you're just talking about silly things - that way, you'll feel more natural when you actually want to record a video!

I dont even show my face on my videos and I already have an awkward time with it. Its normal I guess some people are just better on camera and others can get used to it after awhile. If you are doing something you know and like it shouldnt be so hard.

Oh my goodness, we have all been there! I used to HATE seeing myself on camera but here are a few things that have helped me...

1. Put a post-it note right under the camera lens that says "look here". (sounds silly but it works)
2. Think of ONE person, keep that one person in mind that you know needs to hear what you are going to say and speak to them. (This helps calm my nerves.)
3. Laugh at yourself. Add bloopers at the end of your videos if you feel like it. (Once I added in bloopers at the end of my videos it helped me laugh at myself and it also helped me connect with my audience. Done is better than perfect!)

You've got this! Cheering you on!

Thank you so much! These tips are AMAZING! I will be using these!

I used to be afraid of recording in general, but over the years, I got tired of being afraid and also just wanted to be my own irreverent self. It's not like anyone is watching you at the time of recording. And I figure, so what? They wanna fight me or somethin??? Well, it's more that I don't really care about trolling or anything. I want to do something stupid, so I do it. I want to play games how I play them, I just do it. It's a lot more fun to just be myself. It might take time to get used to it or get fed up with not being used to it, but just try not to worry AT ALL. It's fun.
