How to escape from a playlist?

When I play a video from a playlist in YouTube and I want to leave the playlist and go directly to the video page, how can I do this? The only way I can think of is to delete the part from the URL which indicates the playlist, but this is too unofficial (if you know what I mean). I can't seem to find a way to close the playlist, or to click on a link and go directly to the video. Am I missing something or there is no official way of doing this?

As far as I know, this is the only way to close a playlist.

YouTube should really develop a feature like this though to make it much simpler to leave the playlist.

I think so too. Now with the new design everything is in playlists. I go to the "Videos" section of some channel and click on a video, and BOOM - it starts in a playlists, even if the videos there are not related. Sometimes I don't have time to read the description of the video because the site automatically switches to the next one. It's so annoying...
