How to do this effect/transition?

So I was watching some youtube videos and came across this video. I noticed these awesome looking transitions and was wondering how to do them and how they're called. Thanks

It depends on the software you're using - for example I use Sony Vegas and it's called Linear Wipe in it but I guess it would be something similar even if you use another program.

Sure, at least you can in Vegas by shortening the transition between the two clips, not sure what software you use but that's a pretty basic option so I guess it should be available in any program.

Ahh, thanks. Got it now.

It's a slide transiton or a linear wipe, go into the controlls of it when applied to the video to change speed etc
