How strict are YouTube with custom URL criteria?

Hi all,

From experience, are YouTube fairly quick at releasing the custom URL option once their criteria are met (30 days active, 100 subscribers etc?)

I'm heading that way soon (ish), and was wondering what the timeframe is on them offering it as an option, and whether it's automatic?

Thanks!

I have to say I'm a bit confused. I have less than 100 subscribers and I do have a custom URL? Is that normal? (unless I don't actually know what a custom URL is...)

Up until maybe around 4-5 months ago they were allowing everyone to create a custom URL when they were setting up their channel but then they changed it to 500+.

This is why YTtalk needs to update their posts about getting a custom URL... It is NOT 500 subs, you can get a custom URL when you reach 100 subs. I think once you've met the requirements, it should allow you do it right then. Alternatively, you can get it without getting to 100 subs and such, but this would require you to verify your website with YouTube.

I updated the post last week to reflect 100 sub minimum :thumbsup2: Though if you see it incorrect somewhere else, let me know.

Thanks for changing it and for letting me know this. I didn't realize that you guys went back and did something about it. I'm terribly sorry about my comment if it was offensive. I see people all the time on here who post about having to have at least 500 or more subs for this option when YouTube changed it a while ago. I haven't seen anyone lately doing it (other than here), but I'll definitely let you know if I see it again. Thanks again. =)

No worries, not offensive. If anything it was updated here late since YouTube made the change awhile back. It's all good.
