How much time do you put into your videos?

No I know each video will take a different amount of time to make, but I was just wondering how long people generally spend on their videos

The minimum being about 3 hours of editing, recording probably an hour or two, the max being about 7 hours straight depending on what it is. But i always spend at least 2-8 hours in that range.

Well I guess this is different for every type of channel we have on here. For me, it takes 1-3 days to arrange the given song (depends on the song), then a couple of days to practice & record it and another day to actually film & edit it so yeah, anything from 4-5 days to 2 weeks haha.

my third newest video: 2 1/2 hours of recording, 5 minutes to turn the stills into a time lapse, 1 minute to crop, 5.34 minutes searching for music to fit, 3 minutes to render, and I have no idea how long to upload because I upload things right before I go to sleep. so for that one the biggest amount of time was spent recording.

Mountain biking videos take forever because I have to watch through the whole thing and edit out what parts are boring. After I edit out all the boring stuff, I find a song that fits the mood and is similar length. After that I mess with the lighting. So for some mountain biking videos I'll be sitting there for over an hour just deleting stuff, then I have to go back through and eliminate other parts that might not be as good to slim the video down a bit. 15 minutes of mountain biking footage turned into 5 minutes takes me about 45 minutes to an hour.

Slow motion videos can also take a long time. I found its better for me to watch everything in regular speed and trim it down, THEN slow everything down and trim the edges. Normally I try to trim the edges so it fits a song. my latest video in my signature took me about 30 minutes to edit because of watching footage, deleting boring stuff, trimming, re-trimming, lighting, etc.

Other videos like my Tiny Dog vs. the Dog Park which is my highest viewed dog video took me about 45 seconds to film, and directly uploaded it without editing. so that took me 45 seconds and does well.

my latest video took a month to find a location , 5 hours filming , 3 days of editing(wanted to have lots to choose from) , I had to get used to the new software. but i imagine the one I'm editing now will take half a day to edit and took an evening to shoot!

5-8 hours, depends. If I play some horror games it takes 2 hours, but If I play some long ones like Alien Isolation it takes me 8 hours to edit and render. + 2/3 hours uploading on youtube.

I have 3 different types of videos on my channel so here is an outline of each type of video in terms of time (oh gosh, I'm starting to sound like my calculus professor):

Pokemon Let's Plays (3 per week):
- 25 to 45 minutes of recording
- 20 to 35 minutes editing graphics
- 35 minutes to 1 hour editing video
- 1 to 1 and a half hours to render
Total: 2 hours and 20 minutes to 3 hours and 50 minutes per video

Pokemon Top 5 Videos (1 every other week):
- 1 to 1 and a half hours writing script
- 1 to 2 hours making graphics
- 1 to 1 and a half hours getting footage for video
- 30 to 45 minutes recording audio
- 1 to 2 hours editing
- 30 minutes to 1 hour to render
Total: 5 hours to 8 hours and 45 minutes per video

Pokemon Theory Videos (1 every other week):
- 2 to 4 hours researching theory
- 1 and a half to 2 hours writing a script
- 45 minutes to 1 hour of collecting media for the video
- 20 to 35 minutes creating thumbnails and other graphics
- 30 to 45 minutes recording audio
- 1 and a half to 2 and a half hours editing
- 30 minutes to 1 hour to render
Total: 7 hours and 5 minutes to 11 hours and 50 minutes

These are just estimates. They could be slightly more or less, but I have been doing it for a while and have gotten a good sense of how long each takes. I hope this gives a good idea of how long others spend on each video.

this is how long I take

my sports predictions

- a couple of minutes to find matches/picks
- 5-10 minutes to find the pics
- 5-10 mins to make the film

top 15

- kind of the same as the sports predictions

movie reviews

- 2-3 hours to watch the film
- 1 hour to think about what to say
- 5-15 mins to make the film

vlogs

- 1-2 days to come up with a idea/script
- 15-20 to make the vid
- editing (depending on how long the video is, only just done editing for the first time)

Hmm planning, half an hour to an hour
set-up about 10 minutes
talking, about 11 minutes (thats how much my SD card can take)
depending on if im filming other bits, another half an hour to an hour
