How much money do you put into your Youtube channel? (Priority Question)

For me, the only expense I may not have otherwise used is Screenflow. Everything else I regularly use for my YouTube videos I would've used anyway, particularly my music software.

LMAO I try not to put any since I'm not getting any in return. Most of the things I cover are things that I would have bought normally for my own enjoyment anyway. I guess occasionally I do buy a retro game or two for a dollar, or I guess you can also count what I paid for Nerd Block/Arcade Block since I did buy them for the sole purpose of making videos. But stuff like the games, movies or action figures that I review, are things I were gonna buy anyway or things my friends invited me to.

Edit- ok... If I really think about it... I did buy this $700 comp and $300 video camera for the sake of making videos... so... there's that too.

From a business perspective it's a huge loss. The PC I bought, the two action cams, the a6000 mirrorless dslr, the software... I am not going to put a number on it however. Why? Because it is money spent on a hobby, which brings me nothing but joy.

Now, if it where to actually start to turn into something profitable we can have this conversation again.

I bought my mic and a nice headset, plus some upgrades for my PC so I can easily record and render stuff. Around $300-$500

I'll just list a few of my expenses.

2 cameras (about $500 each).
Another camera which was about $350.
Laptop $600+.
Desktop about $800.
Green screen around $250.
Editing software About $200.
Maybe a couple hundred for costumes.
As well as a lot of other little expense like a mic, tripods, lights, advertising, etc... Way more than I care to admit, lol. Hopefully someday I make back what I've put in but so far, I'm not even remotely close, :).

Oh, and I can't forget the endless hours of time put into filming, editing, promoting, etc...

I'd say getting good equipment is the way to go!
Get a good microphone and a good webcam or camera depending on your content :)
I got a blue snowball as soon as I could and I think it helped my channel a lot!
