How many people openly admit they started YouTube for the money?

Did you start YouTube for the money?

Hello,

I was just thinking about the amount of YouTube channels there are, is this number increasing day by day just for the fame of being a YouTube celebrity or for the money?

For me this is not the case I started YouTube without the knowledge that money could be earned but yet the thought that if my videos took off then I would get money still sits on my mind. Although YouTube is simply one of my many hobbies nothing more and nothing less!

I started it oddly enough to debate with atheists I was friends with through video lol So totally different than where it went, they didn't like my debate/type videos and all were challenging me but stayed subbed to continue the conversation, I decided to mess with them one day and uploaded a video of me playing with a cookie monster toy and they were like "You're hilarious! Do THAT!!" So I did lol I too hope it can make me money some day though and readily admit it without shame :D

That's funny! :D And I agree with you as although I didn't start YouTube for the money I do hope that making videos could earn me a bit of money in the future however few it maybe!

I started YouTube to help with some speech problems I have. Money would be a nice motivational factor once I start making some, but it wasn't the reason why I started.

I don't think people even earned money on videos back when I joined in 2006. Maybe Fred and few more from the top 100 list.

I'm kind of the same way. I didn't start YouTube for the money, yet if my channel ever did take off the thought of making money off of it is nice. Whether I make money or not though, I'll keep making videos.

To be honest even if there wasn't money involved with YouTube I would probably still make videos aswell.

Oh absolutely, I think people take it too far when they think if you are motivated to make money or want to get views for it that's BADDD. But at the same time if you WOULDN'T make videos regardless, that's when you might have the wrong attitude. In my opinion anyway.

I originally started just because I wanted to make videos for fun :) I suppose money is a perk, but even when I am getting it it's still not a priority of mine to earn it.

That's awesome, when I first started YouTube I didn't used to make commentaries but when I did I found that it gave me a lot more confidence in my everyday life![DOUBLEPOST=1405200963,1405200757][/DOUBLEPOST]

But when would you say money does become a priority? I suppose it is more of an important factor if you are doing YouTube for a job?
