All it takes is one big site to share, that's the same thing that happened to my Dalmatian video a couple months ago. Were your Japan views from multiple Japanese sites? Normally when one big site shares other sites also share. I always like to watch the realtime analytics when I see a video get shared, it's exciting. This video was being watched every minute of every day for around a week or more, I kept telling that to my girlfriend and she just said "but that video isn't even good! I don't get it..."

I need to jump into promotion mode again, I've been slacking after this video for some reason.

I've tried, but for the ones that do you need to be able to type in japanese :p

I don't even know how the hell they type that stuff. Google Translate converts it though, check out these tags. Also, I have sent messages in English and got a response in another language before, I just keep it simple, like "GoPro Dog Selfie Stick" and then a link. GoPro is the same in all languages, and I think Selfie is too. You just need to think in their shoes at what they might click.
