How long do ur videos last?

My dog videos tend to be around a minute long. The only videos that last over 5 minutes are normally my GoPro mountain biking videos
 
I mainly do Lets Plays and while people usually agree 15 - 20 minutes is a good amount of time for them, I've made mine shorter. Before when I made longer videos I found my audience retention was way down (about 20%) and it was quite disheartening, so now I stick to 10 - 12 minutes which seems to have brought me up to the 50% mark. I wish people would watch for longer but I guess I'm not interesting enough. :(
 
My last few have been around 15 to 20 minutes but looking at a lot of the feedback I do intend to bring the length down a bit.
 
My videos are mainly under five minutes as I don't feel people will have the retention to stay longer than that and most will click off halfway through the video sometimes. Yeah until you have a much larger audience it's best to keep your videos short and sweet because people move on very quickly!
 
My gaming videos go from 15min - 20 mins when I full let's plays. When they are random videos I try to keep them under 10mins. DIY varied on what we are doing but we try to make them shorter from 5 mins to 10 mins max.
 
As a small gaming channel, I am still tweaking it.

I am going to try for
4-5 minuets on games
6-8 with colborations
and 10-15 for let's plays.

I have some work as a lot of my video get up into 6 Minuets and drops off.
but im aiming for 4-5 mostly.
 
My channel is very new and I'm keeping a close eye on these numbers, though I dont believe I have a big enugh sample size to really say witch direction we should head yet. We try to keep all of our videos below 15 minutes right now. Currently we have about a 25% retention rate, but I dont have the stats from a couple short videos I made to see if It's changed. (We are a gaming channel and I believe that might let us get away with longer videos) I personally will watch 3 hour videos on youtube so for myself lengh never matters as long as content is interesting. and Just today I redid my thumbnails and annotations to my videos I would like to see if that helps any! (Now to figure out my branding and Intro/outro)
