How important is a channel trailer ?

It's kinda pointless. 90% of your views should be coming from suggested videos. People hardly every go to your channel page. It can make your channel look kinda cool but it will have little if any effect on the success of your channel.

I was considering making one myself for my channel page, and to use as an ad. It's just hard, because it should only be about 30 seconds, and to show what your channel's all about in that time is really hard to do.
 
i had a channel trailer, i had it up for maybe 2 years or less but recently i abandoned it, it was old. but i just put one of my videos as the trailer, i don't feel i need the trailer... but again i could be wrong.
ill think about in the future if i want to make one or not.
 
I have a channel trailer but I feel like it's not really needed! I just wanted to have a cool one for the people that do go to my channel page and are not subscribed yet. For a long time I had just a Best Of MrMauriceTL as "Channel Trailer" so people would know what my channel is about still.
 
I never watch channel trailers. And I don't have one, but it would be kind of pointless for me because I have a music channel...

If I check out a new channel I go directly to "videos" so I can select myself what I want to watch. But maybe that's just me :D

Yeah you have a point but i mean if it so happens that someone clicks on your name cause of a comment you said or anything along those lines i guess thats where the trailer would come in handy
 
I don't have a trailer, I don't really watch them either. If I go to someone's channel I go straight to videos and find a video that looks interesting!
 
We know a few people that have them and it can sometimes be beneficial as far as helping people getting a sense of what your content is about. I know a lot of people, including us, tend to usually put the latest video or even one of their more popular videos in the 'channel trailer slot.'
