How exactly does Channel Ranking work???

Hey, so with not the most unique name in the world and using my name as my channel name, I'm having some trouble getting Youtube/Google to rank my channel first...

Like weird thing...just yesterday, MY CHANNEL "Logan Reynolds", was in first, like the very first thing when you type Logan Reynolds in the searchbar is me...

Flash forward to today, the other channel with the same name suddenly got ranked first and he didn't even upload anything or had any recent activity...

I find this to be an issue especially since when I tell people to search "Logan Reynolds" in the search bar, I don't want people who are looking for me to go to the OTHER channel :P

How exactly does channel ranking work and how can I find my way back up to the top? Its just really frustating to have to go through explaining which channel I am :P Same with my videos, any way to do it without having my name in the title? Like I'm doing everything else like tagging and stuff, but my videos still dont seem to be showing up much when my name is searched...
 
are you using the same computer both times?
I've noticed google likes to put what you want first if you regularly search for it, but if i go on someone else's youtube and search it has results in a different order.
 
Try adding info to your Google+ profile. Now that G+ is heavily linked to youtube you can probably squeeze out some good SEO if you just add info and populate your G+ profile. Not everything and certainly not any private info, but just basic stuff. Also maybe add keywords to your youtube channel under Creator studio > Channel > Advanced settings. Just basic SEO stuff could probably do wonders.

Edit: It also looks like he has a channel description and you don't. Make sure you fill out your youtube channel completely, with all links and stuff in there. Also add video playlists and stuff to your main channel page. The reason his channel ranks better could just be because it's more "complete".
