How Does Your Computer Cope With Your Videos?

SubjectSarah

I Love YTtalk
I can't wait to eventually upgrade my computer- it copes reasonably well with the rendering and editing (although it chugs to a complete halt when I've had the program open for too long), but the hard drive isn't very roomy- since starting YouTube have to clear it out much more often than I would like! I've got an external HDD but would still benefit from upgrading in general- have had my eye on a new computer for a while.

Just made me curious as to how your computers cope with your video editing etc? Have you/would you upgrade specifically for your YouTube hobby/business?

Yeah my computer runs okay. Yet it screws up every once in a while so yeah i would upgrade if i could just for youtube.

I am running on a laptop that will die any week now. I need to upgrade soon or I will cry :( it can barely render and it is such a chore waiting!

Yes i would and i also need a better well professional camera like but im not trying to buy something so expensive. I currently use windows 8 and what operating system computer do you use now?

I've kept my CPU and GPU up to date for gaming so they handle the rendering nicely. I did upgrade my ram specifically for videos when I started my channel. Going up to 16 gigs of ram made my computer still usable while rendering.

My computer handles everything already.. but it's getting a little old and I need to replace parts (it's a custom build) and I wasn't the best at computers when I made it, so it's a little ruff :') but it's got a SSD for the OS and a TB HD.. then 2 1TB external hard drives, so I'm good for room :)

Once I get my iMac I'm saving for a Drobo 5D which I will have around 14TB of external space.. with a 1TB internal.. it will be insane! :)

My computer is only a laptop, so it can only handle so much without overheating. However, as for video rendering, it does quite well. My GPU and processor are pretty up to date, so I can play the lastest games. Rendering a 15-minute video in 1080p takes about 45 minutes, which is good enough for me. I can also probably speed it up a bit if I give Vegas temporary high priority on my processor as well.
