How do you raise retention in your videos?

If You don't want to cut Your video then make sure to engage with viewers during the less interesting parts of the video, like ask them a question for example. I'm not an expert, I'm still learning this myself (mostly the hard way), but I think it helps.
 
for my own channel, I don't have an intro, the animation starts immediately, and then for the credits I have catchy music now with little animated character or two along side it. or even a tiny bit of animating at the end after the credits too to reward those dedicated watchers :)
 
Cutting down the length of videos is good advice though as it's easier to keep an audience engaged throughout a shorter video. I've recently learned this myself and now aggressively cut up my videos so that there simply isn't time for a viewer to get bored.
