How do you promote yourself? (Social Media)

I started off just sharing my stuff on Facebook with people I already know, then I found this site and got some nice tips and advice to branch out a bit more. So, now I am learning Twitter, not going ALL that well, I am terrible with social media. So what ones do you guys use? Also tips on how to use Twitter would be fantastic.

I have tried to use Twitter....but.....Twitter is just not for me lol. I hardly ever log onto it anymore.
 
The best way to gain followers that will actually engage with you is too tweet. Using hashtags that relate to your tweet will help it get out there. A lot of people will tell you to follow everyone that follows you, but that is useless. It is the same things as sub4sub on YouTube.

Tweet a lot, about things you are interested in. But don't spam. No one cares about "food that is too hot" if they are not already a fan. But lots of people care about your thoughts on popular things in the news and opinions on things you use.

It takes a while but can be worth it in the long run.
 
I often use instagram to promote, it works pretty well for me :)
I also use google+ communities to promote, this definitely is a good one! I do have a facebook page but i just started it up & of course when people from my old high school found out about it, they decided to go on a thumbs down spree -.-' ugh!! But yeah those are the ones i usually use, twitter i do use but it doesn't help too much haha
 
The best way to learn how to use Twitter is to look at how other people use it I guess.
I say guess because I've been using it since I was 14/15 and I sort of learnt as I went along. I tweet about everything practically and somehow I hardly ever use hashtags :')

This is how I have been utilizing Twitter and it does work. At the very least, the retweets will generate followers on Twitter which allows you to communicate with them directly. Don't expect a flood of viewers though. It builds up slowly.
 
Twitter won't give you much viewers.... I would even say Twitter is one of the worst social media option in terms of ROI; you spend a lot of time and get low amounts of viewers....

I feel Google+ is what I prefer, you get views for little effort.

I have yet to get used to Facebook.
