How do you promote on reddit?

i just got a reddit and I have 0 clue how to use it let alone promote on it. How would one go about promoting their YouTube channel on Reddit? I’m very confused on how this all works

A lot of the time, you can't. Reddit, as a whole, is very much against self-promotion. You may see if subreddits in your niche allow self-promotion, but expect a lot of resistance and downvotes. In my case, every single one of the appropriate sub-reddits are strictly no-self-promotion. If you post links to your videos, you'll get booted. There's really no way to do it except to drop links in some of the open subreddits, which tend to just be spam factories anyhow.

You got to build up a positive user before even trying to promote yourself, since if you will do it from the get go, they will be brutal and slam on you hard. So be active on subreddits that interests you and built up a decent karma, and then very slowly promote yourself.
You could maybe even make your own subreddit, which I have.

Exactly as TheSwedishTraveler has said. When I first tried out reddit it was extremely confusing, so I get that. If you want to post anywhere, you’ll need to become active on Reddit by making general comments and posts all around. That way people will like you and you’ll have a good karma. It can take awhile, but if your channel fits a lot of the subreddits and their content, it may be worth it.

It’s kind of similar to how you need to be an active member on YTtalk in order to post in the channel and video reviews section.
