How do you plan out your video?

This is what I do:

1. Choose the topic to shoot the video
2. Research little bit to get finer details to add to what I know
3. Write a gist/summary of key points with section and sub section
4. I shoot around afternoon as I rely on sunlight from windows.
5. Make sure camera battery has optimal level to sustain for 30mins.
6. Start shooting. 1 shot per section whether 1 or multiple takes. Repeat shot if it didn't come properly keeping video recording.
7. Record voice overs (if required)
8. Edit all later.

I have about the same process. I shoot my videos with a smart phone so that might be different and I also have my own studio soft box lights due to the fact that I work until the afternoon so I cant rely on the sun.

well i work full time and my wife is busy with the kids...so if you ever watch our videos, you will notice it doesn't feel like daytime because we film after our kids are in bed hahaha

our strategy:

- my wife and I text/talk about our weird ideas
- i convince her to do something outrageous (or vice versa)
- after work/family time we set up our gear and knock out a video
- i edit that video that night/the next day in between life/family/work...try to have it up within a day.

I could go much more in depth, but those are the main points. We never script anything, even our prank calls, so everything is as natural as possible.

I've had a list of future video ideas more or less since I started taking my channel more seriously, which I update the moment I get inspiration and I haven't been short on it since! I try to alternate my content, so there's a Smarter in Seconds video, then a podcast, then a DSM Language video, then a vlog, maybe? Not always in that order, but I try my best.

After I've chosen the video I'm doing for that week, I get to work on it straight away. Planning and writing is a lot easier now I'm familiar with the structure for each one.

When I travel, I head out on the town, and shoot the things I see fit, and when I do vlogs, I think of a topic I want to talk about and make the video!

I literally pick an idea and talk out of my a** for 20 minutes straight and it just kind of works out.

The hardest part has to be coming up with new ideas all the time! I always keep a list of ideas in my phone/on my computer.
So when it comes to making a new video...
1. Pick a topic, plan it out e.g. write down anything so I don't forget, I don't do a full script just like keywords etc
2. I tend to film in the afternoon so I charge my battery in the morning
3. I set everything up and do a few test shots and plan what I'm saying in the intro
4. I film in sections so I can keep checking everythings alright (sound/lighting/focus)
5. When I'm done I put it straight on the computer and usually start editing that evening
6. I then do all the extra's like creating a thumbnail
7. And last I either upload early and schedule it to come out on the Friday or I just upload on the friday depending when I finish editing! (plus then start promoting the video wherever)
:D

As in how do you guys approach making a new video?

Here's how I make my videos.

I have the idea.

I think about it for a long time.

I write it down with my other video ideas.

And if I want to do that specific video, I start the script-writing (depending on the video)

Once the script is done, I record it.

I then edit it for many hours, because I like editing ALOT. XD

Once I'm done editing, I watch it through to see if there's anything wrong.

I then post it.

tbh I usually wing it most times with what video's I decide to upload each week, I have a bunch of video idea's and scripts on my google drive that I pull out when ever I'm out of idea's

Been a gaming channel I just record it with no plan
You should at least think about what you are going to announce in the video before recording the video. If you just start talking you will sometimes hesitate and have an awkward moment of silence or "uuuhhhhh" or "emmm"

That's basically what I do, except all mine are on a piece of paper. XD
