How do you plan out your scripts?

Hello,

My channel has about 4000 subscribers, averaging about 300-500 views per hour. I have been trying to take advantage of the consistent views, therefore I have announced of a twice a week upload. I have been doing well at it but I have a little bit of trouble with planning out scripts.

What do you all do? Do you write out 5 in advance? Do you do them the week before, day off? What works best for y'all that makes it not incredibly stressful and just really enjoy the writing. I'm a major procrastinator so structure is what I am looking for.

Thanks!

I usually do a video as soon as I think of a topic, and don´t write a script at all. The only time I write some sorts of a script is when I do a top ten list or do an advice video.
I guess it shows, as I tend to ramble, but that´s maybe my charm!

I sort of have a "big arc" going and ideas just come to me, so it's been getting padded out. Usually I'll have one big, dumb idea and will build a script around it. I'm also a huge procrastinator, so once I write the script, a month later I'll film it, and then a month later I'll actually put it all together. I'm trying to get better about it. Used to take a year before I'd actually finish a video, then half of one, and it's been getting widdeled down more and more.

Really it depends on what makes sense to you if you are working by yourself. But if you plan on group projects I'd recommend to google search writing lessons. So just plan out and write down the idea so you don't lose them.

There are many different types of scripts, so it really depends on what you're going for. If it's just you talking to the camera, it's as easy as writing out what you want to say in paragraph form, in a readable-sized font (if you're going to read directly from it). If there's dialogue, there are resources online about writing in proper script format.

Don't do scripts, think of some fun stuff, that would make your fans enjoy your videos even more. I use scripts VERY Rarely, in important videos like update videos and stuff.

As a viewer I prefer to watch off the cuff content. I can tell when something is scripted and it comes across wooden/fake

Moved to the scripts / ideas / planning forum. :)

You probably shouldn't write the script out completely because you'll be too tempted to learn it by heart and then read it parrot fashion and you'll sound very flat and monotonous. Think about the key ideas you want to say and write those keywords down. They will act as prompts for you to talk about.

I literally just write out the character's name and then put what they say. And I also use parenthesis or whatnot for scene changes or actions a character is taking. I color code the parts of the script too based on the various stages of completion in terms of editing and whatnot.
