how do you film a commercial?

i'm needing to film film a tv commercial about a book i read for a school project. I was thinking a voice over type video.

Well, you can could do that or you could show them the book with other people reading as you explain what the book is about. A lot of people are visual learners, so it's best to have some type of visual aspect to go along with text. Perhaps pictures and clip art since it's a School Project.
