How do I get top comment on a YouTube video?

It determines on the Channel Owner's settings.
There are settings for comments "Highlight comments from"
For example:
Popular comments (if you get a lot of likes and replies on it)
People with 500+ subscribers

there are some more of which I can't remember.
 
Like Michael said, there are various factors which can be determined by the channel's creator such as allocating increased importance to comments from those with over 500 subscribers. Despite this, the best way to get top comment is through likes & replies. I have actually seen comments rank higher if they have more replies and less likes compared to a comment with more likes & less replies. So replies are potentially more valuable. So maybe try and make some interactive comments which encourage replies. But likes still help a lot too. So make sure your comment is positive and also humorous if appropriate. Personally, I have had quite good luck with top comments. I have a comment with over 1000 likes on a Joe Weller video & a comment with over 500 likes on a Kyr Speedy video. In my experience, I have achieved a top ranking comment when either just leaving a positive comment about the video or leaving a comment which is humorous and culturally relevant. For example, as soon as Brazil got beat by Germany 7-1 in the World Cup, I left a comment on a gaming video saying 'The only thing better than this video is the tears of Brazilian children #7-1' This comment got 478 likes within minutes. If you're asking how to get a lot of upvotes:
* Comment within the first 5 minutes after upload
* Repeat something funny that was uttered in the video (the lazy method :rolleyes:)
* or come up with something witty yourself
* Keep the comment short

It's not a surefire way to get lots of subs, though. When my comment on a popular sketch received 850 upvotes, I only gained 4 subs (I appreciate them though :))

I tried with [VIDEO][/VIDEO] and it showed it in the preview but when I save it and go on here there's just an URL. :P

you gotta click the video button thing next to the picture, unless its not there, in the case you have to buy it with your yytalk cash :)
 
The algorithm for the ranking of comments has changed a lot over the past two years. It's still somewhat terrible because of the trash and garbage down there. It's basically people copy and pasting each other's ASCII art.
