Has anybody else heard about this - another YouTuber, VeeOneEye (whose videos I actually watched from time to time due to his friendship with others like Lukeisnotsexy and EmmaBlackery), had someone make allegations against him which he said are true in an Unlisted video and also apologized. I don't even know what to think. I have to get my head together first before I say anything else and then I'll either edit or make another post.
Edit: OK. Here's what I have to say.
I think part of the issue is demographics here. VeeOneEye's videos seem to be targeting the 13-18 female demographic. He doesn't talk politics, he talks about the first time he had sex, doing goofy things that girls would typically find "cute" or "adorable" etc. When girls find someone cute they start pining. And when they start pining they'll tweet or do whatever to make them feel like they "know" him. It's all about feeling like you have a connection with someone "popular" that someone else might not have that connection with. It seems like it would be easy for someone to take advantage of girls' interest. From what I understand she was just under the "legal age" of 16 in the UK, but the time they hang out it seemed like there was consent, at least according to a couple different sources. I'm not exactly certain so I can't say much on that. That aside, although I feel bad for Jason because he is visibly guilty (he was obviously crying before he made his unlisted video), however I don't think his reasons for how he acted excuses him of it. I don't think he's a serial creep or anything, but we don't know until other people come out of the woodwork. I think whatever he did may fit under the label of "statutory" if anything. I think Sam Pepper's a serial creep since he's got a lot of people making allegations against him. But as I see it right now, and this can change depending on what happens, Jason is a case of "boys will be boys." But I could be wrong. He seems like a person who's more likely to learn from his mistakes unlike Sam Pepper.
