High Quality editor for free, maybe? Do they exist?

I Love YTtalk
I know there probably won't be something as good as Sony Vegas out there for free, but I use Windows Movie Maker, and It's so limited as to what it can do. I've taken a break from making videos because I had a job that was pretty stressful and left me grumpy and not wanting to do anything. I almost forgot about YouTube, which is rather depressing lol

Anyway, I want to make better videos with better effects, but I don't really have it in my budget to spend money on a fancy editor. I also don't want to try a free trial of anything. If I don't get to keep it, I don't want to get excited about it, ya know?

I'm working with Windows 7. Any suggestions?

I can't really think of any programs that will allow you to produce awesome quality for free out there in the market...

Well I got the free version of videopad and it said it expired but I can still use it, kinda like the free version of winrar. It's been pretty good for me and it's alot better than Movie Maker.

hahaha That I could! :pompus: That's definitely a last resort type thing for me, though. :p

I'd buy one if i could, they're so expensive, i guess you could do that to test a few out then purchase the one you liked the most? :giggle:

What sort of things are you looking for? More overlapping audio/video/images or effects wise?

I switch to Linux for my video editing, and they have some AMAZING ones like OpenShot and kdenlive. But installing OSes take time and need stress...

All of the above! lol I'd like to be able to manipulate the audio so that I could cut to something like a picture or different video and still have the same audio over it as if it were a narration, things like that. I'd also like more effects. Like the capability to zoom in dramatcally. I'm not able to do that with my camera being that I'm by myself, but even if I could do it- my camera makes noises when it zooms and it gets shaky. Those aren't the only things I'd like to be able to do, but off the top of my head right now. :P

Yeah! I wanted to try out kdenlive, but it's not compatible and I don't understand all the steps that need to be taken for me to be able to use it, no matter how it's explained to me, I don't get it. lol

That partly happens to me, the incompatible bit. Like it's not optimized and it often stutters (and since I do music videos of a kind, they often have to be accurate.)
I could help in some way ;)
