Hate Criticism

Hi everyone, I haven't introduced myself to the Forum yet, I'm Joshua Brandwood, I'm an ameture Youtuber which my channel revolves around big news around the world, I like to put my little spin on the news, and just give it to the public straight - I've interviewed the public in one of my most recent upload, which was a good experience, and I am thoroughly enjoying my hobby making videos.

I understand that my videos won't be getting lots of views/subscribers because I'm realatively new and it's going to take a while to build an audience.

I just want to ask you lot as Youtubers as you'll understand what I mean but does it really wind you up when people sit there and criticize your videos even though they couldn't do a better job theirselves? I totally accept CONSTRUCTIVE criticism but when people just type 'It's sh*t' it gets to me. However, as a Youtuber I try and ignore it because obviously they'll see weakness, not sure whether people do it because I'm doing something I enjoy, and they are unable to do what I'm doing...

Can you lot give me some advice on how to deal with criticism?

Thanks.

Regards,
Josh

Two ways:

1. Acknowledge it. WHY did they say it was s**t. Sometimes, things are s**t and there's no way to be constructive. But that same s****y thing someone else might love.

2. Ignore it. Go by your own opinions of your work and just get on with what you do.

Welcome to the forums!

Remember some of the crazy things that have gone viral. Remember that what is s**t to one is fantastic to another. And remember that anyone who'd tell a complete stranger that their videos suck is probably not exactly trying to see the good redeeming qualities or trying to understand you. Now granted what they are perceiving may be what many people are perceiving, but there's no reason to let it stop you. Make certain you watch your own videos objectively, don't watch them through rose colored lenses, give yourself a real critique and don't cut corners.

I find I myself have to battle this tendency to go "Something in this section seems off, meh whatever I don't wanna figure out what it is I'm sure it's fine" But then later I'll see what it was that was throwing me off during editing and go "omg that could have been fixed" but now the video is up. So make sure you don't turn a blind eye to your own short comings, and take 2 things with you. One, use the negative comments as a reminder to give yourself a close examination, especially examining your motivation for doing this, and 2, remember that you are only human and you're the one with the guts to express yourself fully while these people like to mock you behind text.

WELCOME TO OUR FORUM BROTHER.

There is 2 kind of critic: A critic that wanted you to improve your quality, and a critic that even he/she don't know what they're talking about.. You can ignore the last one..

Ignore the trolls or feed them with nice replies, never reply with hatred because they rub themselves with it since it's a sight they relish. (LOL WHAT?!)
