Hard Drive Problems! :(

I've Got It
So i just bought this 2TB hard drive and i installed it simply enough, then i go to my disk management and allocate the drive into a new one which again is very simple. But then i used a program called DirLinker which moves files into other drives without the computer detecting its move so for example if its a game and i move it to another drive it will still work and the computer will still think its in the original drive. But any ways so i wanted to put all my games into this new 2TB hard drive so i use the DirLinker as i though every thing was done and moved i noticed i still had the same amount of memory in my new drive when i had nothing in it. Go to my steam all my games where un-installed and the game files where missing. Not in my new hard drive. So i tried re installing my games which will take me weeks and when i choose where the game is going to be saved there is no "H" drive there (my new hard drive). I have no clue whats wrong with it. My original plan was to shrink the drive into 4 other drives so i could add it on to my other older 4 drives! If anyone could help me out with these problems i will be very grateful. Thanks

What you should do is move your data files (e.g. music, videos, etc) to the new drive and leave the programs alone. Not all programs save data to the registry (assuming your using windows). This DirLinker my not catch everything.

How many games are we talking about? You might be able fill an 80Gb drive with just games but I doubt you have to worry with 250Gb. For me most of my data consists of videos and pictures. I keep all that stuff on a small server leaving my main drive fairly empty.

Sounds like the external drive may have gone to sleep and not recognised the file transfer program you are using.

This looks like a very dangerous way to communicate with Windows.

So Windows cuts the files, but the drive is asleep, and the files are held in cache going no where. Turn off the PC and they are gone.

You could try using a file recovery program like Recuva, but it sounds terminal to me.

Always use Windows Explorer for file transfers.

Well by the sounds of it the files have been told to go to that location but haven't gone instead they are giving a false reading but if your in doubt take it down to the local tech shop and ask them to do it for you as then you will know that the files will be there.
