You were right to wait until you'd become a valued member to do this, you were right to offer it in return. I'm not sure if it still breaks the rules or not, but I hope you get some takers. I don't think I'd be interested as I feel our genres have nothing to do with each other.

It kinda is advertising/promotion. Just requesting others to do so, haha. Try looking for relevant users (those that do the same things as you), networking with said users and see what happens.

I think this is your best response. Try that instead, find a user YOU find interesting that you think gels with your content and ask them specifically, I think it will go over better. Like I sympathize with how you did this and why you felt it would be ok since you've contributed alot, but I still know that even so some people might be a little... I can't think of the right word... they might think this looks a bit bad.

Yeah...

don't feel bad, I've had that urge before like "Can't I get away with spamming just this once, I REALLY want this video shared, I have thousands of posts, everyone knows me, come oooon" I totally know the feeling and I've thrown it around in my head before too. But ultimately, it still just comes across the same to some members whether you're known or not, in a way that's sad but it's just how it is. But I wouldn't worry about it, just do what that guy suggested it's no big deal
