Google AdWords is not worth it

I'm a new YouTuber and I paid 30 bucks to promote my channel for three days. I got over 3,000 impression everyday, but no new subscribers. It was highly disappointing.

You guys are funny. Yeah, if your ad is s**t, then Adwords isn't worth it. I pull 20-30 subs a day on a $5 budget. 500 daily views straight to my channel trailer and people seem to like it. Stupid Google Adwords... :P

I think depends on your content. If you have a gaming channel you naturally have a bigger audience. Therefore, bigger growth.

You're thinking of it from the wrong perspective. It's not about audience size. It's about a combination of low competition targeting (which can be influenced by a large audience size), well researched keywords to keep the per view bid down and having good content.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it another go in a few weeks. I got almost 2k views on the commercial and retention was pretty solid, but right now I'm aiming for my first 100 subscribers. My channel has an educational/news aim so other than the HUGE science shows it can get a bit lonely.

I like your channel by the way.

Then why do I only have only 10 -20% Monetizable Views?

Because YouTube has billions upon billions of views and not enough advertisers to fill anywhere near 100% of them. Adwords also allows advertisers to select who they're advertising to, which cuts out entire swaths of viewers who aren't of value to many advertisers, like people watching on mobile devices at the moment. They're ad enabled, but not many advertisers want their ads shown on that platform.

Adblock usage is generally pegged somewhere around 5-10% of YouTube viewers.
