Giving Up On Gaming Channel; New Channel Arises

I've Got It
Hey YTT,

It's been awhile since I was on here last! Anyways, I've decided to "give up" (more call it quits) on my gaming channel. Reason is simple: I don't enjoy it anymore. It's not so much that my videos aren't getting the traffic they should (which is true), it's just I don't enjoy making gaming videos anymore.

The past couple years of making videos on this channel has definitely been fun, but more than anything, It's taught me a ton in terms of videography and helped to develop my love for this line of work.

I'm curious to hear what you guys think about my decision and would also love to hear some or your past experiences with other channels you've managed.

Thanks for reading!

Great decision.
You are just going to turn out garbage gaming vids if you have no desire for it.
If it becomes a chore thats when you start cutting corners and losing more interest. Views drop off because the quality has then it all just spirals down.

Im not a good drawer but I like animating, but soon I became tired of telling jokes in that format so started a new channel with a new direction.

Bottom line is do what you enjoy and you will be motivated and the videos will come out better.

Good on you for knowing when to stop; a YouTube channel should grow from passion, and it won't if there simply isn't any there.
Wishing you all the best with your new adventures!

I started Youtube by doing gaming videos. Until one day I also felt burn out. So I stop Youtube for a while. Recently I came back and do reaction/comedy video instead, enjoy it, get better trafic, and I suddenly want to do gaming video again on this new channel alongside with existing content, and I will do it soon.

So if you feel bored of doing something, try something else, experimenting, exploring, and who knows, maybe one day you will stumble into that old stuffs and feel in love with it again.

Creative people need to shake things up every once in a while. If you aren't enjoying what you're doing, it's totally going to show in the work, so it's good that you were able to turn around and take a different direction. I hope it works out exactly as you hope!

Thank you! I have a good feeling that I'll end up making this channel a good bit more successful than the gaming channel.

If its something you're going to enjoy more then that sounds like an amazing idea.. Never stick with something you're not enjoying, even if you get more views for it..
I think so many people are doing soley gaming channels that its hard to get out there these days.. If you still enjoy gaming but don't want to do it all the time maybe you could have a special every week or two or even every month where you play some games... Not sure though haha

anyway, Goodluck!

Thank you! Video production is a career I'm highly interested in (as I'm only a Sophomore in highschool), and making gaming videos wasn't cutting it in terms of extensive editing or anything along those lines.

& you're right, the gaming niche is one of the most, if not the most competitive niches on YouTube. It doesn't help that a big chunk of the most subscribed people are gamers.
