This might be why the majority of the most watched video list is composed of fake p**n videos. It's because sex sells.

Yeah, but this proves that looks can only get you so far. You can be the most attractive man alive, but if you're an a**hole, nobody's going to watch you, or like you for that matter.
 
I saw that Becoming Youtube video about the lack of girls, and I think to some extent it's because we're scared we'll get judged more. I think whilst obviously looks can help a guy get popular on YouTube, it appears much more important for a girl to be pretty to get views. But hopefully this is all about to change as many more people are realising that looks matter much less than personality and good, entertaining video content.

Well if a girl ISN'T attractive, she gets blasted for it. If a guy isn't attractive, as long as he's intelligent people just listen to him. It's like girls are expected to be hot or something.... FAIL

Agreed, and it needs to change!!! Girls can be just as intelligent as boys, and we need to recognise that popularity shouldn't be a gender issue or an appearance issue! (Fyi this isn't taking away from guys' videos)

Well I mean, lots of men WILL listen to women who are not "attractive". It's just, if an unattractive guy makes a video and gets a million views, you will not see very many comments like "No thanks, I wouldn't hit it" or "Try shaving your chest, then maybe women will want you" But if a girl does she'll be listened to, while having to deal with "Lose weight" or "omg your eyebrows are HUGE" People don't give NEAR as much of a crap about a guy being unnattractive. But there are still plenty of people who do the same with women.

You also have to realize that there are kids out there who will get angry that a female Youtuber has more views than them. Or if one attractive girl makes a terrible video, some people will never watch another female Youtuber's videos again or they will just give them hell for being female. More than anything, it's just immaturity.

I'm going to try and make sense here here...but I disagree. From what I've seen, generally a girl will subscribe to a guy if they feel they're attractive and trendy, or they can relate to them. I notice a lot of my fashion haul/skincare videos do a lot better than my other videos. Basically, if you look like you can fit into One Direction girls will subscribe to you...even if you're not all that funny. On the other hand, I don't think females can build an audience based on being hot. Sure some guys will subscribe, but I don't think they'll stick around if you're not bringing anything else besides your looks. Most of the big female YouTubers you see, Daily Grace, Jenna Marbles, etc, are attractive but they're also really talented and funny...and that's why people watch.
