Getting videos out there?

Hey everyone. I have a question. How does one go about actually getting their videos viewed?

Yes, I know good quality content, consistency, branding, etc, are important for expanding a fanbase and keeping the viewers you already have entertained. However, that will matter only after you actually get some people to see some of your videos in the first place. How do you get those initial views?

I gave my links to my close mates.. They shared it, then other shared it :) start like that.. also make sure you tag your videos as much as you can so people can find then easy and on their own :)

Yes, have good stuff and then tell you're friends and family to spread the word. Then once you have a few real viewer (real meaning not just you're brother who could care less but subbed cause he loves you) treat them like they are the world and they will start spreading the word for you. However, you still have to promote, and market and there are tons of stuff about that at the top of this forum. You just have to take the time to read it. Hope this helps. :)

I rely on search traffic, as this is the most beneficial to your site.

You can work on tags and naming of videos to improve search traffic.

Keywords & Tags are what drive relevant YouTube views. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. Keywords & Tags are what drive relevant YouTube views. Out of everything you learn from this guide you need to learn that tags are what can make or break your channel. YouTube has made it so it uses your tags to suggest videos to people who would have never have known you existed before! The more relevant tags you have, the more of a chance your video will show up on the right sidebar while people are watching other related videos!

Use the Google Keyword Tool to find your tags. Use LOW COMPETITION & HIGH GLOBAL SEARCH keywords.

Also name videos with atleast 2 keywords in the title. This will drive more search traffic.

ALWAYS BE RELAVANT - Never use tags to get more views that are not related to your channel. This can help label you as a spammer!

Also you can check out my blog for more information: Http://ytblogger.com

I also have a free ebook on building a successful YouTube channel, You can find that here:
http://yttalk.com/threads/free-e-book-on-making-successful-youtube-channels.33136/

There are a couple of threads with some good advice about this in this section. yttalk.com/threads/how-to-get-more-views-on-your-youtube-videos.22993/ is a good one. Especially the Promotion tips on the first post. I found them helpful anyway.

That IS how I got my initial views and every view/sub since. It's hard to explain. Some channels will get the views and some may not but with time and effort it WILL happen.

Honestly, the two best ways are to maximize search traffic (see AJBBB's post above here), and receive traffic from outside sites, like facebook, twitter, tumblr, reddit, google plus, and anything else like that. Getting a shout out or making a collab with another YouTuber also helps!

I agree with every thing you said, except Reddit. Reddit hasn't done anything for me personally but waste my time, others might have better luck so I can't speak on that. AJBBB knows his stuff so you're right on point. BTW I haven't see you around much, nice to see you. :)
