Getting random views

I've Got It
So i have 15 subs and I uploaded a video last week and received 500 views. That sounds awesome on paper, but aside from the views nothing else happened. No dislikes, likes, comments, or subs from this random spew of views. This puzzled me so I checked out my stats. Out of the 500 views 3 of my subs watched and the rest of the views came from Russia... and for some reason most of them watched the entire video without clicking away, they didn't leave a trace of themselves lol Is there something going on that i don't know?

The video could have been embedded somewhere on a Russian site. Can you see what traffic source your views came from?

Seems most of the traffic is coming from Russia while using their iphones built in browser (safari). I kind of figured someone paid for views and put the wrong information lol

You don't get more information in the section "traffic sources"? Like, 'external' and then if you click that you see what site the views come from?

Yeah that's what i used and it says most of the views are from the safari app and after that it tells me which countries used the app

I've just had this happen to me. I made a video back in March and just a few weeks ago it started getting views and still is. I went from about 400 views to about 10,000, and it's still going.

Turns out the video was embedded on a website called SkidrowReloaded, which after hunting it down is a cracked games website. Whoever uploaded the game used my video as the preview. Games are heavily pirated in Russia so it's no surprise why most of the views had come from there too :P

I've got a handful of subs from it but nothing crazy. I don't agree with the use of my video but I'm not complaining, high views means high search ranking so actual viewers will come that way.

Sidenote: If a video is embedded somewhere the likelihood of receiving comments, likes and subscribers is quite low as the people watching aren't on Youtube to properly interact.

That's a shame really, i have had that problem too. I gained almost no subscribers from a video that got 100,000 views...
I did see that you can like or dislike a video within the embedded screen now (don't know how long that has been there :p)

Dayum! That is a lot of views :P

And yeah it does suck a little.

I just put the lack of interaction down to them not actually being on Youtube. If you're not on Youtube you don't really think "I'll leave a like". After all, you're only passing by.
