Gaming Script?

Oh man, three threads in one day. Whats going on with me today

Okay, done a search again and still struggling to find a similar topic. There are all these threads about writing scripts for vlogs/short films etc. What I want to know is how people really write them for gaming series. I've had this idea in my head for months and not written it down anywhere, I even tried recording it a few weeks ago but it was so disjointed I stopped. Although I know what I want to achieve, I understand now that I need a script to organise the videos and how to film what.

Now with this series I'm talking a big series, think Yogscast Shadow of Israphel style. I always think too big but this time I think I can do it. Now with the script I don't know how to write it, I'd prefer it to be a purely textual script with loads of detail rather than images, as I can't draw/sketch at all. So what I'm asking you is, how would you go about writing a script for a gaming series like this, has anyone here done it in the past for some advice?

TLDR; How do I write a script for a gaming series, anyone here done anything huge like this before?

I've never done it before, but I think for something like that eg. SOI, it needs to be only half scripted. You can't predict everything that will happen, so I think what you need to do is script the events, and some possible interactions with people, other than that I think improv is your best bet

With this though I'm still not sure on it being like SOI, I was using that as an example of a long running series really. I was thinking more a big story, like a TV series sort of thing. With less improv just a long tale that can draw the viewers in, hard to explain really, getting idea overload atm

I think I know what you mean Is it gonna be a solo or co-op project, cause if its a co-op everyone can contribute ideas that's taking part

It was originally going to be solo but I think I'm going to have to get other people involved if I want to do everything I'm thinking of. So yeh that's a good idea

Cuz after reading what you wrote, I suppose that's what you're aiming for? It's not a gaming series, but I've done written for some machinimas as well.

Will do. The first bit is definately solo though, I can already start picturing that. So it still falls back to, if I was going to write a short script for just 1 part before asking others, how would I go about it. It's not all text, but there's alotta voice acting and sound effects involved. There's music as well. You could make yours more textual based although I suggest that you use a few pictures to get some visual focus for your viewers.

Just try to make it sound natural, as if you aren't acting, the best actors make people think the scenario is real
