Gameplay without commentary

I don't use commentary but most of my gameplay videos are guides so it isn't really needed. And I do plan to do it in the future but right now I am doing just fine without it.

I think it just depends, i mean maybe if its nothing but a montage all together. Try not to think of it getting popular, focus on how you make your gameplays.
 
Overall, I think you need commentary.

If you're not going to, at least put some catchy music.

From experience I can say the audience retention is a bit higher when you do commentaries. At first I uploaded some plain old videos no voice over and not I started making some videos with voice commentary and people start paying attention. :)

If you are afraid of how you sound in English try reading some texts out loud to get use to how the pronounce some words, also listening to people speak in English has helped me a lot before doing a commentary.

Thanks, I tried it and my voice sounds better in English than in Lithuanian.... :D[DOUBLEPOST=1372837775,1372831877][/DOUBLEPOST]By the way, I decided to do commentary, because I watched my video and they seem very boring without commentary
 
I do it with commentry, I used to do montages as well! ;)

It is better with a commentary as more people will watch your video and you can get more people watching your video for the​
full duration!:)​
 
Commentary seems to be the most popular option. Sometimes people find it awkward to listen to someone talk though.
