I can't believe someone will support a rape, most stupid thing i ever heard.. Even if he have a freedom of speech, doesn't mean he have a freedom to be heard.. So putting a video onto some public media is just wrong..

I get what Kevin and a couple others are saying - people should have the right to say what they please, but surely there should be some kind of 'within reason' clause?

If a white man went on youtube hating on people of other ethnicities, he'd be blocked, it'd be a hate crime and he could genuinely risk landing himself in Court.

So why not for this, I say. Rape is equal to murder. It's just horrific. Troll or not, that's irrelevant, you know?

Yes. Yes, I do. In the same way I absolutely support the Westboro Baptists right to peaceful protest. I may despise their message, but I will absolutely defend their right to express it.

Freedom of speech means nothing unless it protects unpopular speech.

He has every right to say it, but it needs to be on a platform other than youtube. If wasn't against the youtube TOS, the video should at least have age restriction on it. There's no way a video like that should be able to be viewed by 13 year olds.

I think this is a cultural thing - the U.K. has much harsher censorship laws in the U.S. (though I oppose the limited censorship we have in the US as well).

The issue with "within reason" is who gets to determine what is "within reason"? "Within reason" censorship jailed Oscar Wilde for his homosexuality.

well if it's anything like last time this kids gonna be putting a blade this his face and mock cut him self in order to intimidate to get what he wants ...i personally don't think this stuff should be on youtube... and i've seen people get p****d off or offended by things that are less then this... this guy went too far last time..and unfortunately that is often when we start to "take charge" of the situation..when it goes to far.

No we don't. We're very liberal with our censorship, actually.

I think anything that can be construed as some kind of 'violation' of human rights. E.g. promoting murder, rape, child abuse, etc. What if he was talking about child abuse, beating babies? Would that be worse? No, of course not, it'd be just as bad as rape.

That's my point you see. As a man you literally cannot understand what a woman goes through to protect her body from the men around her. We get it in clubs, on the street, sometimes - god forbid - within our own families. Sometimes it's not just heckles, they make a move. As women, we have to be constantly aware that it might happen. As men, you don't have to worry about rape so much. So I do understand your points, but I can't expect you to 100% understand mine :)

I always realise that people have a right to express theirself, but people always forgot about a place to express it.. For this case, the guy maybe said that he support a rape. As long as he just express it to a small scale like his friend or whatever, it'll be no harm. But what's happened here he was express it on public. Then, if he just wanted to express himself, why he must do it on YT? He must be have some purpose, right? Maybe he searching for a supporter. And what will happened if some kind like this getting more support? Something bad that will be a downgrade for humanity..

Sorry for my long opinion, i always interested in some kind of social issue like this..

Well that is exactly what Kevin's quote is about. You're talking about limiting the freedom of speech here and who is going to decide where to start and where to stop? Who's books to keep and who's to burn?

Promoting these things is not a violation of human rights. Doing these things is a violation of human rights. There is a world of distinction there.

So I do understand your points, but I can't expect you to 100% understand mine :)

That's incredibly condescending, and it's statements like that which alienate would-be allies from the feminist cause.

Again I see, and respect, what he's saying. Freedom of speech = good. But as I said to Kevin... turn that around a moment. Remove rape from the guy's video and insert 'beating newborn babies'. Would that be any worse for you? If so, why? Why should it be any worse?

Know what I mean? :)
