Hi Guys,
I want to upload my 1st proper video yo youtube this weekend.
Are there any tutorials that show you the best way to.....

Upload the video from Final Cut to YouTube (using the correct settings etc)

& What settings to use on Youtube.

Thanks :)

if you are happy with the editing you have done than you don't need to worry about how you upload it. The only thing i can think of is too upload the video in HD.

I haven't uploaded directly from final cut in awhile. I normally send it to the compressor and choose the 1080p option which automatically sets the codec to h.264 and makes it as small as possible.

When I was uploading directly from final cut I would loose a ton of quality exporting it with h.264 but it would take 3+ hours to upload if I tried to keep the quality. Basically, use compressor if you can. If you can't, export it to h.264 for a fast upload or export to high res if you don't mind waiting forever for it to upload.

dont you have to pay for the compressor through the app store? I think it's like £40?

Yeah I think it is. The program I'm enrolled in college included it the cost of the classes so I got it "free". Even so, I'd say it's worth investing in. It's totally possible to export from final cut, but I was never able to get the file small enough while also maintaining quality until I started using compressor.

Download Handbrake (Free opensource Video Compressor)
Go to Final cut.
Export your video uncompressed. (Masterfile)
Import video into Handbrake. (Source)
Choose mp4, H264, videosize, constant framerate etc.
Check web optimized.
Check 2 pass render.
Adjust the bitrate at 5000 kbps for 1280x720 video or 8000 kbps for 1920x1080 video.
Click on preset (top right) and then on the + sign to save the setting.
Click on the Play button to launch the compression.
And you are set.

Tried it once. Took 4 hours and then it said that the video can't be uploaded. I'll never upload from Final Cut again.
