i work with final cut pro x 'cause i like apples products. they are easy to use.
but i hear lots of people here who use adobe premiere.
i like final cut, but i don't really get in to the navigation with events and projects. i understand how to use it but for me it isn't really helpful.

so which software do you use and why?

I use Final Cut Pro X, have never used Adobe but have heard good things about it. I use Final Cut because it's just what I've become used to- I started with iMovie and moved on from there, so the interface was relatively familiar from the get go. I really love Final Cut because I find it so easy to navigate (still getting used to what it can do- only had it from around Easter time), and I seriously love the way it integrates with Motion 5, which is an amazing piece of software.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, mainly because it's just better than FCPX. Plus FCPX isn't even classed as professional video editing software, it's just an expensive upgrade to iMovie :) most professionals where very annoyed with the new FCP because it's nothing like FCP7 it's basically a different software.. well it's not software it's an app. That's why you can get like 50% off Premiere Pro if you have FCP7 :)

So to answer the question I use APP6 because it offers a lot more and it works with all of the other Adobe products like Photoshop and After Effects so I can work with everything very easily and as I am a media student I need to be able to do everything easily to get it done on time and I need all the extra functions and the "professional" software :)

Also I feel like Motion and such are no competition to the way that After Effects works. I can also take my project files from PC to Mac with ease and no need to change all the formats and save the projects in different ways.

I use Premiere Pro, because I like how it integrates with the other Adobe products, such as Photoshop, After Effects, Audition, etc... Also, out of the two, Premiere is more fully featured. Really though, it's not about the program you use, it's about the person using it.

Same here, although I dont really use Motion 5 alongside it. Nevertheless, I have found editing on the MAC platform a much more pleasing experience and progressed from iMovie to FCPX.

Its not really a matter of APP vs FCPX - they both have their good and bad points - its which you personally prefer to edit with, and which works best for you.

Final Cut Pro X V.S. iMovie

Avid Xpress Pro, Premiere and Lightworks. Well haven't really done anything with Lightworks yet but want to try it out some time soon...

I've actually just started using Final Cut Pro X on my last 2 videos and I quite like it. I'm still learning all the capabilities etc but I was able to figure most things out before looking at YouTube tutorials so the fact it is quite easy to use is a definite plus.
Just my opinion

The reply that talked about integration with other products is spot on. Premiere is just simply an industry standard, and the whole CS package works together flawlessly.
