Final Cut Pro is slooooowwwww

Symph

I'm a dude with a face and I know how to use it.
I find myself having to wait for every little change I make in FCPX to load and it gets so annoying, I just accepted it as being how the program runs but now I'm wondering if maybe my settings are off or something? I mean I just added text to a clip and just adding the text I'm having to wait about 2 minutes for it to process, is that normal?

Hmmmm.......you could be possibly running low on disk space? I find that makes programs run really slow........

No I covered that base, I just backed up like 20 gigs worth of stuff and got it off the computer so it's not that. But good guess! hahaha

Hmmmmmmmmm............do you have too many programs/windows open at the same time? That could make it run slow...

I'll try closing as much as possible as I keep editing today and see. But it's kind of always like this no matter what, so I think the problem runs deeper than your typical fixes. But thank you for trying to help shweeetyyyyyyyyyy

Well how much ram do you have and are you running any other programs while you are editing and adding things.. Like are you on the internet while you are doing these things.. that can effect your rendering and editing times.

Ohhh maybe I should try turning off the wifi when I'm editing? And I don't know anything about Ram to be honest, I know my computer was supposed to be really good it's a macbook pro and it was the latest version as of.. 2 years ago? So whatever that's worth, I know very little about computery type stuff.

Well It might help.. like make sure you aren't online and all that. Cause that could slow you down. Sometimes you need to just save all and restart your computer.. it will get a hiccup and not know what to do with itself.

Ok I think we're getting somewhere, I'm always online when editing, and I almost NEVER restart this computer, I will try both those things. Thanks Ken.
