Final Cut Pro help?

So I bought this iMac from my room mate who bought it from our old room mate and it's got final cut pro on it, but now it's asking for a serial number and none of us have it anymore. Does anyone know if there's a way around that? Or do I have to just let go of my FCP dreams?
