Experimental vlog- one longer video or multiple short ones?

Mirandapanda

Posting Mad!
I have never done a video in vlog format (I usually make shorter sketch type videos) and I made a vlog from Playlist Live. I think it turned out well... but it's over 25 minutes long. Since I don't usually post vlog content I'm not sure if I should break it up in case my audience turns out to not like vlogs, but I also don't know if such a long video would also be off-putting.

Does anyone have any advice/input regarding this?

If the vlog is all one subject, then just do one longer video, I would suggest.

People like shorter videos though, so if you have several different topics in there, you could break it up into parts then name the video Vlog: Part N [Topic].

That's personally I would do if I was in your situation. But I'm sure someone else may have some better advice out there.

Shorter is better, could always comprised the best moments, no way in hell is all 25 minutes movie quality XD but i have been wrong before.

Hm you know what, I think it depends on what you're good at. My advice would be to play to your strengths. If you are used to doing shorter videos, I'd stick with that. I follow people on YT who will post 25-45 minute videos, and I'll watch them every single time because they're very good at creating long-form content. However, I also follow people who post very short videos, and I'll watch those too. I find them equally enjoyable.

Quality has nothing to with video length, in my opinion. Quality has to do with what you have the chops to deliver on.

Just one guy's opinion :)

I would agree, if your viewers are used to shorter videos, split it up. Personally - and even though I hate to admit it - a long video is off-putting for me.

I hate to toot my own horn but I do know how to edit out boring stuff. The issue is that the vlog covers 5 days of stuff so it's hard to condense all of that into, say, 6 minutes. But I don't know if I want to make multiple vlogs when I'm not sure how well received they will be. I am working to get the video down to just under 20 minutes though at least. But idk.

well...cut them down by the days? and release them periodically? you dont have to upload all 5 at once.

If you're Roman Atwood you can post it :D otherwise I would split the video :)

Thanks everyone for your input! I'm getting some varying advice, but it seems like the general consensus is to split the video up. Hopefully this won't turn off too many of my subscribers.

I would suggest breaking them up in different days. More vids and not all bunched up together. Than again it's what you want to do (: No matter what it's all a learning curve/process. Be creative, be fun, experiment
