Elgato Game capture problem

I have just purchased a new elgato capture card for my xbox one. I connected it by putting a hdmi into the back of the xbox one where it says hdmi out to tv and I have connected the other side of the hdmi to my elgato where it says hdmi in. I then connected a hdmi to the other side of my elgato where it says hdmi out and connected the other side of that hdmi into my tv. Then I connected the USB cable you are given from my laptop to my elgato, installed the software and I'm able to record my xbox and all that good stuff, The problem is that when I had a hdmi running from my xbox straight to my tv the quality was amazing but now that I have a hdmi coming from my xbox to the elgato then another hdmi going to the tv the quality has dropped on my tv and it looks dull and darker than before. It is actually better quality on my laptop screen than my tv. Is there any way to fix this like connecting the cables differently or do I need to deal with it?

I dont think there is a way to really fix it. The reason is because the lead from the xbox is being put through the card and the image that is coming out of your tv is being "compressed" by the card. But since it looks just as good on your laptop I wouldent really worry about how it looks on your tv. Just turn up the brightness on your tv and dont worry about.

Someone else might be able to tell how to solve the problem but for me I dont really see this issue at all.

Good luck!
