Editing or not editing videos

I've moved this to the Strategies & Technique Advice Forum. =)

I also edited the title of this thread to be more descriptive. Please try to use descriptive titles when you make posts. ^_^

I think editing is important, but I also strive to make one-shot videos. One-shot videos still need editing at the beginning and the end of the video, but it's a lot easier for a viewer to watch than a video that has a lot of cuts.

I think editing is definitely super important. It makes the videos flow better, it allows you to change things that you didn't like during the filming, you can add some background music and even add some comedic effects. EDITING IS GOOD! :)

Videos that start with someone turning on a camera or phone and end with someone reaching to click the camera off seem really amateurish to me. I think a minimal amount of editing is necessary, even if it's just trimming the ends down to have a definite beginning and ending.

That said, my partner and I try as hard as we can to make most of the George videos a single take, because that's closer to traditional puppetry, which would be live. We sometimes have ideas that require editing (and we add green screen and such), but the limitation makes the challenge that much more challenging. This weekend, we're going to try to have a shoot in a pool, which is insanely difficult, given that you have to hide the puppeteer in the water somehow, so we'll see how that goes. :)

I love the idea of editing videos! Once I do get my computer fixed, I will be importing my videos from my Playstation and editing them! And no matter what it is, from leveling voice audio to just a nice clean fade into the video, and out of the video, it makes things just seem so much nicer!

I think editing is super important on Youtube, otherwise if there's no editing involved why not just livestream it ? For me youtube format has to involve editing :)

Why is it even a question? Putting up there a raw material is pretty bad. It just needs to be done if you want the video to be smooth and entertaining. Unless every second of your raw footage is cool, then your free to go. Oh wait, it isn't? How sad.

But ok, taking my cold b***h mask off(rly, please, don't think I'm a bad person), it just depends on the video. But the depending thing isn't 'If it needs to be edited', but 'How much does it need to be edited'. Gaming videos, for example, if kept nice and shiny, can be reduced to cutting off unnecessary switching off/on your camera and such things. However, more advanced type of videos(especially ones including other materials like images or different videos) need to be cut and edited better.

God, why do I talk so much. In summary, it's always better to edit your videos. There is always a way to make them even better.
