Don't use Virool!

After snooping around the website, (I could be wrong) but what they do to promote your videos is that they will actually treat your video (that you are promoting) as an advert.

C'mon, most of the time, you never really watch an advert. So they'll promote your video on blogs, virtual currency sites (like Zynga games D:), etc. as an advert.
I think it works for brands and products, but maybe not gameplay videos, songs you make, vlogs, etc.

I think it'll ruin your audience rentention, but it might give you more views and help you in the YT algrorithm. Overall, not worth it. It just makes your videos "look good" with a decent amount of views.

But even though it's heavily advertised around YTTalk, do NOT use it.

Just a small rant :)
If I'm wrong, please say. These are merely my own findings and opinions.
 
I've used it on an old channel. I gained 50 subscribers and thousands of views with a 40% viewer retention on that particular video. Lots of comments, lots of ratings too.

It won't work for everyone. But it is good, if it's suited to the video you're putting out there (I used my channel trailer, which is effectively an advert)
 
0.0 well it doesnt guarantee views it guarantee's the ad will be viewed, which is not in the best interest of the youtuber, also its best just to have good content ^^.
 
Interesting answer from both of you, I have been looking and wondering about virool for a while now. I only have 9 videos so far though and I think I should wait until I have 20 or 30.

Financially it isn't worth the money (given you have to spend tens of thousands to guarantee proper video success) and really he's right it is aimed at companies or largely famous people for promos but it was a nice experiment, there's nothing dodgy about the service at all :)
 
Frankie I do have a video that could work because it's an advert/channel trailer. But it's doing well on its own actually, just putting it in singing forums, etc.
Should I use Virool to promote it?
Plus, it's 42 seconds long, so it could work?
