Okay so this question is for the small and medium sized channels. Do you thank each individual subscriber you get? I get about 1 subscriber per week right now and this funny little idea popped into my head that maybe I should send an email to each individual subscriber to tell them how much I appreciate their subscription. So, everyone out there with small and medium sized channels, what do you think about this idea, yes or no?
 
Go for it lol.. sometimes that is difficult. Maybe just do a tribute to your subscribers when you reach a certain amount and thank them for tuning in.
 
I would actually find it creepy for someone to thank me just for subscribing unless they're really famous. Just sort of a double standard sort of thing for me. If someone thanks me personally and they're a small channel it just come off as desperate and makes me more likely to unsubscribe, which is one thing I like about YouTube letting you keep subscriptions private. You'd probably be better off making a thank you video at certain milestones like what Ken said.

No, that's just really creepy...
 
I used to do it in the past, but some people have their subs hidden. It's nice to say thank you, but some people could be put off by it, a double-edged sword!
 
I used to do this when I was really small, like under 100 subs. These days I could never keep up with it, but I didn't notice that it necessarily helped hang on to subscribers. Most people never responded so I don't think they necessarily care.

If I subscribed to a channel and someone sent me a thank you message, I'd probably just ignore it unless they clearly wanted to start a conversation with me and not just thank me for following them.
