RED Dragons!?!? I had to check out your channel because you mentioned that. And my god, the quality is absolutely insane! I can't even imagine what kind of storage requirements you need to work with those kinds of file sizes.

My camera is definitely holding me back. I made the mistake of purchasing a DJI Osmo. Gives me nice, stabilized footage. But there are so many problems with it. Poor battery life, the app keeps crashing (which interrupts filming) or glitching (which screws up the audio or video or both for whatever was recently recorded). I can't even adjust the aperture so I'm always out of focus when I get close to the camera. It makes for very poor workflow, and I lose so much time. I could be doing other things like scripting better episodes or promoting my content. Stay faaaaaaaaaarrrrrr away from the DJI Osmo!

To be honest though, I've mixed in some footage from an old Canon t2i in some of my videos and when done right, it's hardly noticeable. If I were on a budget, I'd buy something like a t2i to get going on a DSLR. Or if you can afford it, I recommend the Sony a7s to people for its awesome low light capabilities (puts my camera to absolute shame).

There's ways to make it work with cheap equipment but you got to know that equipment and its limitations to make the most out of it. Looked at your stuff, looks like a lot of fun. I wasn't focused on the quality because the content was good and had my attention so the quality, while it can always be better, seems fine so just keep making awesome content.

Thanks! Really appreciate it! :)

People make amazing things with the worst of gear, if your content is not worth watching i.e (story, dialogue, topic, etc.) then having 5k, 10k, or even more worth of gear is not going to help you. The only really good equipment I have on my channel is a decent mic ($500). Everything else I got for cheap. The only thing holding me back is the time it takes to plan, record and edit a video.

First, determine what you have or what you can afford, then from there figure out the best content you can make with that equipment and just make it. It's all about priorities.

Yes! I just upgraded my editing soffware it changed my thoughts about editing being dreadfull but I have bugs now.

My computer is old, I did change some components but I wish I had one more extra hard disk, a new screen and a new working mouse.

But editing the software changed the game big time for me I have tried to upload everyday this week and it is doable withiut 2 hours editing only !

Oh definitely! i currently use my phone for the facecam that records in 720p, i have a blue snowball microphone and super cheap gaming pc, i would love to have a new camera for better quality! i would have a blue yeti because... well its a blue yeti haha! better than what i currently have and my pc specs are intel core 2 duo E8500, 4gb ram, 500gb hard drive, Nvidia Gt 710 graphics card and having a better overall pc would allow me to play games on better graphics, run them smoother because i constantly worry about if theres going to be lag or if my pc can handle the game :'D and i could hopefully start to upload 2 videos a day instead of 1

I use my laptop for facecam, and my brother's mic for sound. Also my brother's phone for instagram xD Free Cyberlink for editing, this is just a generic laptop/notebook so graphics and storage isn't huge. I record game footage with Game DVR on the xbox. I'd really like to get a PS4 for other games, could do more with more, but I have what I have so I use it~

No, I feel like I'm unlucky. Or the quantity of my uploads. I feel like I have everything I need. :D but for others it may be a lot different

Not having equipment can certainly hold you back... however... I do think having basic equipment should be a rite of passage. I think everyone should try making videos with lesser equipment so they learn about frustration when they first start out. There is no bigger leap in satisfaction when you go from Pinnacle Studio to Adobe Premiere Pro. If you start out with all of the equipment you need, you will never appreciate the equipment as much.

I think getting better equipment, or even better, a room to film my youtube videos in (where I can just go in, set up a few things and film, rather than move allll of my equipment around my room, since I have 2 box lights, a tripod for my camera and a mic... dang)
I think the only thing really want at the moment, and the thing thats making the most different is my lighting... I live on the bottom floor of a 2 story apartment and the side with my room doesn't get much light, so I really struggle sometimes...LOL
Other than that, no, I don't think equipment actually matters as long as people can see, and hear you properly!
I think I just don't have a very interesting channel to most people ;)

Well, I make music videos, it's not that hard to do. I use windows movie maker since this channel isn't gonna be able to financially pay me back, so I figured I shouldn't invest money in it.
Though I recently discovered the audio quality difference between this software and Sony Vegas Pro 13's, and Vegas is (obviously) a little better, so I am considering an upgrade, but that won't be anytime soon.
As for my equipment holding me back, I have been wanting to add different effects to my videos recently, to make them a bit more visually interesting, and WMM is very limited with those options, though my subs don't really complain too much about the videos themselves.
If I do receive complaints, they're mainly about the length of the song, if it's a little short.
But overall yes, I do believe I'm due for an upgrade.
