Do you ever think that your videos aren't the type to become popular?

A Filmmaker/Vlogger attempting to make you laugh.
Hello! I was wondering if any of you think about this. I am always trying to make comedy videos that I appreciate that aren't just goofy challenges, pranks, or really relatable material but I always wonder if I should implement that into my content. I will always just make the content I appreciate, but I wonder if any of you think about this? Or if you "play the Youtube Game". ALL CAP TITLES, extra punctuation, misleading thumbnails, challenges, or relatable content that is trying to hard to be relatable.

What do you think about all of this?

I have always tried to be unique with my content, but it is sometimes hard when you see a cookie-cutter youtuber getting a lot of attention. But I think that's why It's important to just focus on yourself and your content.

Let me know what you guys think about all of this!

I think its definitely important to stick with what you know, and how you want your videos to turn out. It can start to get consuming when you start thinking 'maybe I should be doing what that person is doing?' and then you go on a tangent and completely turn away from your original ideas. Try to think of your passion for creating videos, make yourself unique in that way! Myself, I do struggle to think of original ideas, but I just do the videos that I like to do, in my own style with my own personality :P

I don't focus on whether or not my videos are going to be popular. I know as a gaming channel in a market that's oversaturated and filled tons of competition there's a good chance I will never become huge but that doesn't deter me from making content. I enjoy what I do and happy that there are people out who watch my videos and enjoy the work I put into them. My goal wasn't to become famous or rich by playing games, it was to reach out to people like myself who just enjoy playing games and hopefully entertain them. I make content that I would enjoy watching, not whatever is going to get me tons of traffic on my channel. I think that's the problem with most people on youtube, they're so caught up in trying to get all those subs and views to grow their channel that they realize they should be grateful for the people who actually take the time to watch their videos, no what that number is. They treat it like a job they hate, not a hobby or a passion they enjoy.

You're absolutely right, it's better to be yourself and make content that you would enjoy than boring videos just because they might get more views. It's not worth it... well if it gets popular you get all those views and subs but you get my point lol

I just try to make videos that I myself would enjoy. If they get popular: great, if not: no harm done. As long as you are proud of what you create and enjoy making it, I find it to be worthwhile. Playing the 'Youtube game' rips a lot of the fun out of it for me, so I've stopped really caring about it. Surprisingly enough, my channel has done better since.

I thought my videos would be popular because they have cute animals and they come from a shelter so people would go "awww." But there are so many animal videos where people catch thier pets doing awesome stuff. So now I know, from reading a lot in YTalk and 5+ months of experience, that I'm going to just have to slowly build an audience who appreciates what I'm trying to achieve for the animal shelter. I have to learn to tell a story in my videos. It's highly doubtful that I'll get a bunch of viral videos and get quick success for the shelter's channel.

Yes, i do think that but i don't think it and then think "why bother" or anything. I just make content I like. I play video games I like and upload that, I don't jump on specific game bandwagons. I don't try to mislead in titles or create overly dramatic thumbnails or whatever else people do. I just make videos because I like it and will stop when I don't like it anymore. And I'm pretty sure if i worried too hard about my videos becoming popular, i wouldn't like it anymore!

I think this occasionally, but mostly about my let's play videos. My other videos (montage parodies, on occasion, which is a somewhat saturated field though its become somewhat less heavily trafficked as of late) are, I like to think, sufficiently original and off-the-wall to be more successful, which is why they generally have been more successful than my gaming videos :3 I still make gaming videos, though, mostly because it's something I enjoy doing :P

As a guy who makes cooking videos with puppets and has a cat who talks about good self esteem techniques, I think I'd be very lucky if my content got wildly popular. it makes me happy to create this stuff, and I think that's the best reason to do almost anything.

Honestly, I used to think about it but really, if you're just making videos to be get popular it's just a waste of time!
Stick with being original and doing what you like to do and you'll have more fun! People will watch your stuff since it's original and not cookie-cutter!!
